Tympanomastoidectomy

have finally been scheduled for the Tympanomastoidectomy it is for july 17th although i have a somewhat idea of what it is and have researched the procudure and will continue to research it i have some questions that may seem a bit vain, i am happy i finally have the date in which will hopefully rid me of the ear infection and chronic mastoiditis, but here is what i am wanting to no, i have long hair almost to my butt i have been growing it since 2006, how much of my hair will they shave.yes i no its vain but i understand most of this operation except that,

Very little of your hair, if any, will be shaved during this procedure. Most of these procedures are done behind the ear where there is very little hair. You may want to discuss this with your surgeon, and perhaps, even tightly braid your hair to pull it out of the way.

ty i never could understand much about that part i remember back when i was a child they had to shave bout two inches of my hair to fix my ear that time, i had long hair then and just as soon as i got home my grandparents took clippers to it because i cryed that i was ugly i was prepared then and was way to young and now i want to be informed as much as possible i no it was vain but part of my vainess comes from the length of hair was about 3 inches shorter then it is now when my grandfather passed on thanks and i will have it braided the night b4

It is always best to address this issue with the surgeon who is familiar with your case. Tell him/her that you do not want your hair cut unless absolutely necessary for the surgery, and if it must be trimmed a bit, to do so only minimally.
