For the past month, my ear has been clogged. I thought from using Q-Tips for cleaning them. But I have been feeling like a liquify feeling in my ear, and when I went to dig it out with my pinky finger I pulled out what looks like shedded skin. What in the world is that??

Rod Moser, PA, PhD responded:
I don't know....I wasn't there and didn't see it.

The ear canal is lined with skin, and people who use Q-tips tend to have a lot of dryness because the beneficial ear wax was removed, so it could have been skin.

I have the same issue. It happens to me every other year or so and only in the left ear. The skin is over an inch long and extremely tough. It is the weirdest feeling when it comes out.

Yes, the ear canal is lined with skin, and sometimes that skin can peel, especially if you have a history of dry skin issues in other areas.
