Ruptured Eardrum

About three weeks ago I went to the doctor and discovered that I had a ruptured eardrum, he gave me pain medication and told me to come back in after about five days if I was still experiencing pain. By the five days were up my ear was pain free. But now my ear still feels clogged up and every mow and then I feel a slight pain in it and in other areas of that side of my face for a few seconds. I'm not sure if I should go back to the doctor or not, but it's really worrying me.

Rod Moser, PA, PhD responded:
Yes, you need to go back and have your ear examined again. This is really the only way to know if your ruptured eardrum has properly healed (most will heal) and to investigate that unusual facial pain and ear clogging that you are experiencing.

How did your eardrum rupture?
