hi, my 22 month old daughter is suffering with extremely itchy ears. she has had allergy problems since 4 months old, after her first ear infection. she had her first set of tubes placed at 6 months old. she stayed sick and developed ear dermatitis. 6 months later the ent removed adnoids and replaced tubes with titanium tubes, asked him to please not use titanium tubes because my 3 year old son was sensitive to the titanium tubes but if it was necessary he was the doctor. shortly after she started having ear problems again. at the same time she developed white patches on her tonsils and back of throat, i was told from chronic sinus infections. ear dermatitis returned her ears are driving her crazy, she want ear and she is almost 2 yrs old. she has had a problem with thrush since ear infections started (lots of antibiotics and steroids). she has had blood work she is healthy however MRSA was shown growing in back of throat. still waithing on results from fungal cultures. she has recently started having yeast problems with no antibiotic or steroid use:starts with itchy ears, yeast infection then thrush. cultured thrush but was negative for yeast but mrsa present. her ears have always looked nasty inside since tubes placed (like fossils it a cave). 2 wks ago tube came out of left ear, her ear has never looked so clean however right tube is in she is digging at right ear, irritable again and again refusing to eat. she shakes her head side to side when she lies down and doesn't what to sleep. right ear is nasty with build up, not wax and is bloody. she says hurts and itches. she had ear drops for staph for 7 days, finished them 4 days ago.her ent keeps insisting her tubes aren't the problem. he disagrees with lab reports on mrsa from infectious disease physician he refered us to. she also had white visable fungus growin in her ear about 2 months ago the state of ga couldn't identify. her ent said we all have candida and if he did a swab test on me yeast would show up also, however the test didn't identify candida. as far as the MRSA he said the same thing we all have staff. the ent has been treating her for ear dermatitis for at least 5 months now. something is wrong the fungus, chronic thrush, yeast infections with no antibiots, itchy ears, sore throat, it all has to be related. she isn't having any allergy problems now other than sneezing. she has had an allergy skin test nothing showed up. blood test recently done that tests percent for allergies was none, no allergies. please help me she is miserable. she has been suffering for so long. she has 5 different physicians all say different things (family physician, pediatrician, allergist, ent, pediatric infectious disease doctor). she also has constipation and skin sentivity problems. she has a lot of problems related to yeast over growth. any suggestions would be appreciated. she does take garden of life kids raw probiotics and still has to have miralax. thanks for your time and God Bless you.

I can tell by the nature of your posting that you are very frustrated. An itchy ear can be unbelievably annoying and there are many things that can contribute to the dermatitis in her ear canal. In most cases, it is ATOPIC DERMATITIS, also known as eczema. This is a genetic dry skin condition, not a disease. Eczema can become superinfected with any number of bacteria (including Stafh and MRSA), fungus, and yeast, so the care can be lengthy and complicated. I suspect the fungal cultures will be positive. Just the drainage from the tubes alone can complicate itching.
