Swollen Lymph node in neck-2cm

Hi,
For the past 6months I have noticed a single swollen lymph node on the left-front-side of my neck. I went to the doctor and he ordered a ultrasound. The ultrasound confirmed that the node is 2cm. I also have a couple other "slightly enlarged" ones in the neck area. I have no other signs or symptoms. The node is oval (not round) and very moveable. I also have a Hasimotos diease that I was diagnosed with after having my two children (I am 27 years old). There is a small node on the left lobe of my thyroid. The specialist is not worried about it since it's a common "side effect" of hasimotos. I am taking thyroid medicine. I also have HPV.

I am worried that this lymph node maybe cancer... I also heard that it's best not to "play/biopsy nodes if it's not really nessessary. Do you think that since I have these autoimmune conditions that I may have cancer? Should I get a biopsy on the node? or just continue to observe it? Is there any type of blood work can I get done to make sure I don't have cancer??

Thank you for your help...

Rod Moser, PA, PhD responded:
No, there are no definite tests that would tell you if that lymph node is cancerous....ONLY an excisional biopsy and a very thorough pathological analysis. Even an MRI does give you a clear idea.

The good news: Nodes are common, and your node is moveable and apparently, not changing over six months. Keep seeing the ENT or surgeon for routine exams...if he/she is worried, you will most likely have a biopsy.
