What is wrong with me! Right side head/face issues!!!!
nikkijo posted:
Have been sick since 9/7 of this year. Started as neck pain, and lower right side skull pain, nausea...thought I had flu. Ran a low grade temp. on and off for 29 days. The pain migrated from spine to mastoid bone area. Also pain behind right eye, upper inside corner of eye, and my vision is off in that eye, making me dizzy at times. I have had 35+ blood tests, a CT scan, an MRI, saw a neurologist, was on 3 different antibiotics, and steroid for 5 days. Now on the 40th day of being sick, set up for an appt. with a infectious disease specialist in 2 weeks. No one seems to know what is wrong. The pain is all on the right side of my face, right cheekbone, right eye, behind right ear, pressure in whole right side of face and ear. Vision still off. Right side of face swollen, and cannot smile, neither side of mouth look right, and swollen right side of face. Teeth do not hurt. Slight bumps on forehead, top of head, and behind rt. ear. At times nauseous, dizzy, always the pressure! Sinuses were clear. When I get active I feel worse, and temp. goes up. Really confused. No one seems to know what is wrong, dr. thinks maybe I have a viral infection in head???? Have been unable to work, hard to drive with messed up vision. Any suggestions? Ever heard of this before? Any help appreciated! Thanks!

As much as I would like to offer you some profound insight, I cannot. This is well beyond my primary care level of expertise, so I would be referring you to others as well.

You are having a very complicated array of symptoms and had an impressive diagnostic work-up. I am surprised that the neurologist did not have a clue, so hopefully, the infectious disease specialist will be able to help. Did you have a spinal tap? Blood culture?

My heart really goes out to you and I am sorry that I couldn't help.
