Eustachian Tube Problem
An_248950 posted:
I am 52 years old and have been having a problem for approx 9 months with my right ear. It blocks off and makes me sound like I have a cold but I do not. My ear always feels like it has something in it but our family doctor has checked it several times and cannot find anything. He has advised the problem is the eustachian tube and at first he thought it might be algergies. I have never had a problem in the past with alergies and he has since ruled out alergies as the cause. I have been using Omnaris nasal spray for about four months and it has reduced the number of times my ear blocks off from several times a day to a few times a week however I'm now starting to hear noise like a sea shell held to your ear at odd times. At my last visit the doctor felt this may be stress related --- is this possible or should I request to see a specialist. My ear does not cause me any pain and I don't want to waste everyones time if it is just stress. Yes I am working on getting the stress under control but my gut tells me this problem is not from stress --- any suggestions

My gut tells me the same thing....this is not stress. I definitely vote for seeing the ENT, especially after nine months. Yes, it does sound like an Eustachian Tube issue, but inner ear disorders can also mimic these symptoms.
