Nose Rings
tinakep posted:
I have a strange question to ask:

What are the effects, if any, are in getting your nose pierced?
(not at bottom of nose, but on side)

I do have ETD for years now (with no solution- have tried many nose sprays) so was just wondering if getting your nose pierce on side would have any effect on this as far as ETD or any other effect on the nose itself?

Thank you
Rod Moser, PA, PhD responded:
A nose ring will not have any effect on ETD, unless of course, it become infected. They do get infected from time to time as you may know.
Piercings may just be a generational fad, so think carefully before you get one....or two....or three.
tinakep replied to Rod Moser, PA, PhD's response:
I would just get one if I got one. I do have 3 piercings in each ear I've had for years.

Would it affect blowing your nose?
Rod Moser, PA, PhD replied to tinakep's response:
Blowing? No. Picking? Yes.

Anytime you have an obstruction INSIDE your nose (the back), you can have some issues, but they must not be too bad, since many people have nose piercings.

With your history of having prolonged symptoms, adverse outcomes, etc., I am surpirsed that you want to do this. Your decision, of course.
