when to call the doctor, I have diabetes and have had a head cold for more than a week. Headache, slight cough, ears hurt, sore throat. I have been taking alka selzer cold, but dont know for sure if it will raise my sugar.

I addressed this question a day ago, but for some unknown reason, the posting did not show up.

I assume that you are monitoring your blood sugars, so you will quickly discover if the Alka Selzer temporarily raises it or not. I suspect that any rise would only be slight.

The fact that you have headache (sinus?), coughing, ear pain, and a sore throat would be reason enough to seek medical care, especially if your symptoms are worsening. Most viruses tend to improve in about 3-4 days, so if it does not, there is a greater chance of having a secondary bacterial component.
