head cold
colorpurple posted:
when to call the doctor, I have diabetes and have had a head cold for more than a week. Headache, slight cough, ears hurt, sore throat. I have been taking alka selzer cold, but dont know for sure if it will raise my sugar.
Rod Moser, PA, PhD responded:
If you are checking your blood sugars regularly, then you will know if Alka Selzer will cause problems. I suspect it will not.

If you are showing signs of a sinus infection (pressue and pain in the sinuses around your eyes), then it would be wise to contact your medical provider. For a normal cold lasting more than a week, you should not still be having a sore throat or ear pain, so this would be another reason.
