when to call the doctor, I have diabetes and have had a head cold for more than a week. Headache, slight cough, ears hurt, sore throat. I have been taking alka selzer cold, but dont know for sure if it will raise my sugar.

If you are checking your blood sugars regularly, then you will know if Alka Selzer will cause problems. I suspect it will not.

If you are showing signs of a sinus infection (pressue and pain in the sinuses around your eyes), then it would be wise to contact your medical provider. For a normal cold lasting more than a week, you should not still be having a sore throat or ear pain, so this would be another reason.
