Ear Wick Removal

avenged89 posted:
My husband went to the ER Tuesday with severe pain in his ear. The doctor diagnosed him with Otitis Externa. His ear was almost completely swollen shut and he could barely hear. They prescribed him antibiotics and ear drops. The doctor also inserted a wick into his ear. My question is: Does he need to go to a doctor to have it removed or will it come out on its own?
