The right side of my nose is swollen and at the tip of it, its very painful to the touch. It started out just being painful, now it has began to swell. No runny nose. It has been like this for a few days now. Does anyone know what could cause this?

Rod Moser, PA, PhD responded:
The first and most important consideration would be an infection. Staph infections in the nose are notorious for causing painful and red noses, so it would be wise to seek medical care if this problem persists or worsens. Since this has been going on for a few days already, the time is now.
