    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

5 Days Late - Negative HPT

I am 5 days late. I took a test this morning (not first morning urine), and it came up negative.
I am having zero symptoms of an impending period, except that my breasts are extremely tender and sensitive, and I'm exhausted - both the earliest signs I had with both my kids. But with both my kids, I tested at like 2 days late and was positive. My husband is convinced I'm just super-stressed, but honestly, I'm less stressed than I have been in the past six months.
Is it likely that I got a false negative?
When should I retest if my cycle doesn't start?

It's possible you didn't ovulate and usually no ovulation means no period. It's common and will happen to most women at least once during their reproductive years.

I'd wait a week and re-test. If that's negative, you can wait and see if you get your next period. If not and you keep getting negative results, see your doctor.
