Emotionally Cheating
HurtAndConfused posted:
My husband has been emotionally cheating for 4 months, but he won't admit that anything physical ever happened. I think this all started right after our 1 year wedding anniversary. He has been spending time with younger girls and his single friends at bars without me multiple times a week and I was suspicious of one particular girl since the beginning. Turns out she is the one he has been talking with.
He says I didn't do anything wrong to make him do this and he feels guilty. I am pushing for divorce because I can't trust him anymore, but he won't agree. He keeps saying he doesn't know what he wants, but the whole situation is making me sick to my stomach constantly.
If anyone has any advice for me, I am all ears. I feel like I'm foolish if I give him another chance, but I still love him and care for him very much.
Oh another thing: he suddenly says that he never wants children in our future anymore. I don't understand how someone can change their mind on that so suddenly. I think maybe it's depression. He has also told me that he never wanted our house or our puppy as well and that I deserve to find someone who treats me right.

Advice please help!

Oh, I am so sorry! You must be on such a roller coaster of emotions.. My heart goes out to you. Your description of how your husband is acting is disturbing. Is there any chance that you can convince your husband to go to counseling or see his physician? I think that would be the first step to take before considering divorce. Perhaps there is a bit of a depression issue or some other health issue that is the driving force behind his behavior. Of course, I don't know anything about your faith or beliefs, but here's a handy counselor referral I found on Focus on the Family's website for Christian counseling. Please let me know how you are doing. Hugs!

Thank you. Yeah it's been very bumpy the past few months. I think we have come to a mutual decision that divorce is what's best for this situation. He has been telling me he lost feelings for me and he has given up on us. We have been going to therapy and it hasn't been helping at all. In fact, things just keep getting worse and worse every day. Thank you so much for your advice. I am doing okay, learning my own strength through this journey, and I know the future holds better things for me.
