Anyone know a good surgeon in New York City?

I'm still going through all this mess with my hernias and bowel obstructions, scar tissue and all. I really need to go to New York to see a top notch specialist for abdominal wall reconstruction, and in particular...one who deals with all these recurrent hernias and major complications afterwards. I am severely nauseous 24/7, but that's nothing new, but it has been worse all month. This week another hernia is bulging out between my spare tire and a little lower. It is sooooo tender to the touch, and discolored reddish/brown. I feel really sick. I am nearly 3 hrs from New York City....but I am told that's where the better surgeons are. Can anyone recommend a good surgeon for me that deals with stuff like this in NY?

I'm sorry, I don't know of any surgeons in NYC. I live in Missouri and had all of my surgeries done in St. Louis. There doesn't appear to be much traffic on this website lately, but hopefully someone who knows your area will have some suggestions. Have you talked to your GI doctor and asked if they could refer you to anyone? Sometimes doctors have heard good or bad things about surgeons and that might be a good place to start. Hope things work out for you.
