    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

    So Low and Depressed

I've had a rough month. Now I'm so low and depressed that I don't even want to leave the house. I'm having trouble even going to the gym for an hour. I'm so low I've falled off the curb. I have no energy. I don't even want to cook or clean. My head is splitting and my heart is aching. I'm 50 years old and have no friends to even talk to. I have to pay my therapist 170.00 a session just to talk. I'm over weight and considering asking my Dr. for some Diet pills to help me out or I'm going to talk to him about surgery.

    I can relate BB!

I am in my late 40s and about 50 pounds overweight. It's a vicious cycle because being overweight limits me and makes me feel depressed then I eat sugary foods or shop whenever I feel depressed. I have had this past week off and swore that I would start an exercise routine but have failed. Everything leads me back to depression. No friends at my age other than a couple that are back home ( I live abroad) makes me feel so disconnected. I have good days but am tired of the ups and downs .

I have always suffered from depression but it's getting stronger as I grow older.

I have been suffering depression since my childhood due to abuse. I suffer from anxiety and PTSD also. I didn't start medication until I was 35. I've spent 4 times in the hospital having a total of about 50 ECT treatments. I've been on all kinds of medication. The ones I'm on now seem to be the ones so I just have to talk it out.

I understand and I'm sorry you've had this cloud hanging over you for so long.

What med combinations are working for you? That's good news.

I have scheduled and appointment with a Psychiatrist for meds, was trying to avoid it but I think I need help with my cloud. Don't think I have ever found the right combination since I don't stick to the meds for more than a year or 2.
