Pregnancy make my depression better?

I suffer from depression all my life. I have found that during my pregnancy (this is my first) that depression has actually been alleviated. I was wondering if anyone on here has had this happen and if they have found a way to replicate this after their pregnancy is over. I cannot tell if this is due to dietary changes or due to the hormones related to my pregnancy. I have mentioned this to my doctor but she seems to not have answers.

Wow that's really neat, I found my depression was hard to handle during pregnancy without medication, due to the up and down emotions and crazy hormones. I was just too irritable and moody and didn't want to drive my husband away so I went back on medication at the time. I am sure that you can get the reverse effect, since pregnancy affects different women different ways. You know, some puke the whole time while others breeze through it. So, I wouldn't discount it as being the pregnancy. How far along are you?
Just a thought, they do have a sort of fad diet that involved HcG drops or injections, the hormone that you have during pregnancy. I guess it would depend on which hormone is helping your depression. There's also higher levels of progesterone in your body. After your pregnancy you could talk to your doctor about trying hormone supplements maybe? Have you been on birth control pills before? They might help (I hope). Anyway, good luck!

am actually nine months now. i had low progesterone during my first trimester. i will have to mention this to my doctor again because my whole family suffers from depression and if i can figure out what is ggoing on maybe it will help my siblings. i have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and had to make major diet changes. i found that when i had low glucose numbers i showed signs of my irratic behavior such as unable to cope with situations and very argumentive with everyone around me. these were some of the signs i showed right before i would have a breakdown and have to go back on medication. birth control actually made my emotions alot worse

I hope you can pinpoint what about pregnancy helps you! Maybe you can use that to help fight depression in the future.
