am new to the discussion and hope there are some friendly people to help me through my depression.

i resigned from a job had been working in for more than 10 years this year, relocated to stay with my partner, my father and brother died six months apart from each and i have been depressed for the most part of the year.

because of my depression, there has been tension in my relationship with my partner and am so scared that we wont be able to make it through the latest of our/my 'bad patch'. i convinced myself that thinking positively will help me work through the feelings of self-loathing i have, but this has not helped at all. i go through an average of 5days of being quiet and morose. and when my partner begs me to tell her whats going on, i cant because i feel she will think i am mad! i also hate having to tell her that i feel like a complete failure who is not in control of her life.

yesterday, we tried to have a conversation about how to best deal with my depression and it ended on a terrible note with both us resigning from the conversation without any solution. i felt worse than i had before we started talking

because i havent been working for more than 7 months, i feel totally useless. i spend most of my days in-doors at home, working on proposals that havent come to fruition. this situation reinforces how i see myself as a failure.

Hi An
Welcome to this forum, we are happy to have you hear and look forward to getting to know you better. Everyone here "gets depression" we are either living with it now or in the past or living with someone who has depression and find posting here to be safe and non-judgemental.
Firstly, I just want to say, try and be kind to yourself, you have been through so much this year and it is understandable that you are feeling low.
Secondly, have you considered going to see a dr, they may be able to help you with medication or direct you towards counselling - I realise that you are not working at the moment but I know that there is a list of affordable resources on this site.
And lastly, hold on in there with your partner, continue to try and talk and explain how you are feeling and ask her to be patient with you as you will feel better soon.
Take care and keep in touch
