    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

Does one have to take Prozac for life?

Prozac is not often perscribed for Anxiety alone and it is not addictive.
However certain types of Anxiety may be associated with Depression, then Prozac is sometimes perscribed.
If your Anxiety is only associted with OCD, it is probably just Anxity. On the other hand if it is associated with Depression find out if it is Clinical Depresswion or not ( perhaps even get second opinion).
If it is Clinical Depression it should be approached and treated differently.
Usually Clinical Depression is associated with both Anxiety and Tension.

It depends on your diagnosis. Many people have a depressive episode, take an SSRI for a few months, wean off it and are fine. If you have a more serious version of the disorder, you may have recurrent depressive episodes that might be better managed by taking meds every day, to ward off another episode.
