1. to assemble (troops, a ship's crew, etc.), as for battle, display, inspection, orders, or discharge. 2. to gather, summon, rouse (often followed by up ): He mustered all his courage.
I thought she understood. But then she asked for toast with mustard for breakfast. DENIED: banana and oatmeal on the menu.
This weekly post summons the community members, new and old, for a check in to discuss last week, the weekend, the upcoming week or...anything at all!
This is the first place I come when I turn on my computer Monday morning and I really look forward to this thread. I hope you do too!
Who's first?

Last week was filled with a lot of home health care since the neck surgery. I did get out my staples on Friday, I go back in 5 weeks.
This weekend we had storms - we were out of electricity for more than 2 hrs. Not all that bad except when it came to the emergency lights in the building - they work only for 30 - 40 mins after the electricity goes out. Dumb if you ask me we have to carry fast lights around in the hallways. So what is the purpose of emergency lights if they only work for a brief time?
This week - Mon. PT at home, Tues. they come to wash my hair, because I can not take off the brace. I go to my Pulmonary Dr. immediately following my hair appt., then at 4pm our team Wii Bowls, Wed. Bingo, Thurs. food shopping, Friday PT at home.
My sugars over all have been great, morning fastings averages 85, two hours after meals averages 120. My last A1c was 5.4%.
Today is kayaking, the rest of the week looks like rain, but I can work in the shop cleaning up. Looks like I will be able to start throwing again by the end of the week, or next week.
Sunny and currently 69 degrees heading for 80 today in WNY. Very nice early Fall weather.
My wife was off work from 9/14, returning today at 2:30. This was Workman's Compensation time off to hopefully help her back heal. She had two injuries at work earlier this year and just was not getting better, so the doctor put her off for 10 days. She returns today with very strict restrictions and must adhere to those for at least the first week. She is a retail assistant manager and has been for several years. My wonderful wife is considering a career change to something less physical so we are praying for direction with that.
While my wife was off, she rested a lot and got a few minor projects done around the house with a lot of help from our eldest son. I made sure to help with the resting part as much as I could.

I have to have full fasting blood work done at the end of this week in preparation for pre-op appointments with the ophthalmologist on 10/4 and my primary doctor on 10/6. My cataract surgeries are 10/25 and 11/8 with lots of pre and post follow-up appointments. Again, I'm looking forward to the results.
Still struggling with controlling my blood glucose readings. I will definitely discuss this with my doctor on 10/6. I have to admit that it may be time for insulin, at least for a while.
Have a blessed and marvelous Monday and wonderful week, friends.

I had a rough week - still battling Miagraines, my fastin this morning was 197 - and I know thats really bad. My own fault - stopped taking Metformin last few days due to extreme gastro issues last week - needed to give my tummy a break - but I guess that was a mistake. oatmeal and metformin for breakfast today - trying to get back on track.
Had great intent to eat better last week - premade salads for lunches and had lots of veggies and fruits - but by friday I was really sick ( Colitis ) so I need to find "balance" and that is my challenge now.. eating healthy but not so much so that I end up with gastro issues. Ohh my, every day is a challenge.
Good news - I will ahve my new bed tomorrow - hopefully they will deliver the right one this time - as I have been sleeping on a firm for 2 weeks - and not happy about it.
Lora
I took the regular Metformin for the recommended 6 weeks and had a host of problems - see if you can get your Dr to switch you to the extended release form and you only have to take it once a day - always with dinner.
I have been off all diabetes meds for about 1 1/2yrs. I watch what I eat very carefully. Deb
I'm glad to read you are finally making progress from your neck surgery. Will continue to pray for complete healing. Fantastic blood glucose readings! I'm jealous. LOL
Dave
Nice to know that it's possible to be med free. Congrats to you - your an inspiration.
Well, now that I've had all my shots for the year, flu, TB, and pneumonia, I'm ready to help out my girlfriend in her 1/2 combo class she was just given. She's giving me her higher children to do reading groups. I picked out what I used to do with my 2nd graders. They LOVE Magic Treehouse books. I just made a ton of questions to go with them for comprehension. I'll be helping one day a week. She has just TOO many children now in her classroom! They're giving teachers 10 more children than last year.
Today, a girlfriend is taking me out to lunch and shopping to celebrate my birthday, which was yesterday. I celebrated most of the week, and yes...have gained a few more lbs. I couldn't exercise, other than walking because of my back. I start zumba again tonight. My back feels SO MUCH BETTER.
The physical therapist has me doing exercises to strengthen my core stomach muscles. You stand against the wall backwards, feet slightly apart and scoot down the wall and back up again. I have another one she has given me, too.
Yesterday I went to a local festival and car show. I only got to take a few photos before the rain started coming down. We used that time to go to lunch, to get out of the rain. It wasn't pouring. It usually doesn't rain in Ca. until Sept., and not that much.
I have "one" more birthday outing with my schoolteacher friend this coming weekend, and my 65th birthday is officially over! I started Medicare this month. I just don't feel 65! The one day I DID feel 65 was when I had to climb my stairs when my back went out. Ouch! For my new bathroom remodel, I had grab bars put in the shower and tub area. That should really help someday!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week! I need to concentrate on getting this weight off. I can already see a few higher morning numbers by not exercising, and gaining the weight.
NutriJoy: I think there's a conversation about travel. I'll look for it and post a link. Hope your planning is going well!
International travel, kayaking, new beds, bingo, sunny and 80 degrees? Looks like some good stuff for you guys this week!
Haylen

I'm glad you are enjoying your birthday week. "63A
You don't look 65 at all!
