OT unethical lawyers?

Several weeks ago i was a passenger in a car that was involved in an accident. I've been getting letters from lawyers ever since. They all want to represent me in my case. What case? I know it's stupid but this is really causing me a lot of anxiety. I have a problem with that anyway and it doesn't take much to get me upset. I tempted to start calling them and saying that if i should need a lawyer it wouldn't be an ambulance chaser.

Does anyone know if this is a common practice? I know this is way off topic but it really is stressing me out.

Dusty - I'm guessing that accident reports are public information, so it doesn't surprise me. Perhaps you should just throw those envelopes, unopened, in the trash. It's pretty easy to identify an attorney by looking at the return address. Just throw it away!

Thanks for the response. I know you're right but i just can't do it. I really can't throw out any mail without reading it.

A few years ago I was rear ended by a teenager. I also didnt know that the accident reports were public and stupid me put my address and phone # on it. I got mail and calls from lawyers, chiropractors, doctors, body shops for the car, etc. I eventually just stopped answering the phone and threw away the mail. They're just looking to make a quick buck.

I must be old fashioned but i don't think doctors and lawyers should be advertising like the local pizza shop.

Dusty,

I agree with you you 100%. But I think the legal profession is at maximum capacity so the competition for clients is fierce. At my high school reunion last year, there were no less than 25 attorneys!

I hope this flood of mail trickles and dries up soon!!!! Try and rip and throw away as soon as those envelopes get to you -

Hi Dusty,

I am glad you are okay, and apparently not seriously hurt from this accident. If you are not having any obvious pain such as in your neck, then go ahead and throw away the letters. Make paper airplanes with them, or whatever.

hugs,

Hooty
