Loss of Appetite

An_245960 posted:
I have been a type 2 diabetic for 1 year. For the past week I have been experiencing abnormal highs and lows in my blood sugar. I have also completely lost my appetite. I am only eating 1 or 2 meals a day and no snacks. Nothing sounds good and the smell of some foods is nauseating. I use injection insulin 3 times a day. Has anyone else experienced these problems?

I don't use insulin so I am not in "your shoes" so to speak. But I am quite certain that using insulin and not eating can be a dangerous combination. I highly recommend you talk to your doctor about balancing your insulin needs with your dietary intake. Both highs and lows are dangerous, and can be even life-threatening.

I'm not a medical professional, just another insulin-dependent diabetic for six years.

You said for the last week these fluctuations and symptoms have been going on. Something else may be going on. I would contact my the doctor regarding this.

I use two insulins, one basal (Lantus) and Humalog with meals. Do you take insulin with meals? Your post is a bit vague.

I have been using insulin ever since diagnosis six years ago. I have never experienced the symptoms you are experiencing now. Good idea to call your doctor as soon as possible.

My husban(tipe 2) use insuline, but for the past 2 weeks I change his diet and he dosen't need more insuline. I decide to eat vegetables and fish (ORANGE ROUGHY FISH) with green apples, also green tea, black tea, he lost weight (10 lbs). For breakfast he is eating an asian vegetables soup, for lunch, green salad with chicken grield and for dinner fish with green aplles. six to eight bottles of water (8oz,each). (No sugar, no sodas, no coffe, no milk,no bread or pasta)

Please check this diet out with your doctor. It sound healthy for a type 2 NOT on insulin, but I'm not so sure about dropping the insulin without the doctor's knowledge. How many times a day does he check his blood sugar to make sure it isn't going too high or too low?
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!
