Exercise raising blood sugar

garden50 posted:
This spring I started a strange reaction to gardening. Whether digging, moving plants, planting new ones, in the garden or in pots (I always stop, rest and drink fluids frequently when doing so), these have caused my blood sugar to soar then crash when I take the insulin for the soaring BS number. I was told 20 years ago when I became diabetic to test before and after exercise. Now with the reaction I am having they recommend not testing for one and half to two hours after gardening. I have done so with eye opening results. Immediately after garening for about an hour 158 them retested 1 1/2 hrs. when time to eat and it was 102. Has anyone else had this experience?
I even reacted one day to moving the sprinkler.
I won't give up gardening but learn how to adapt my health care to fit.

I think a few people have observed a temporary rise immediately after exercising. It's a good idea to wait a bit, unless you're feeling a low.
