Question re boards
hootyowl2 posted:
Ok, some of you have mentioned "hijacking" the boards. What are you talking about ? I have never seen this board or any board "hijacked". Back around 2003/2004, we had a rogue poster who kept attacking certain members. But I don't know that he "hijacked" the board ?

laura2gemini2 responded:
Hijacking means that someone has taken a topic and moved it away from the original intent.

Like say someone starts a topic about what kind of insulin you use, and someone else remarks about what kind of dog they have which makes everyone else post about their dogs. The original topic was insulin, but it has been hijacked to another topic.
dustnbones99 responded:
I don't really see that thread as being hijacked since it basically started out as a "Why don't you like me anymore ?" sort of question and most of the responses were answers to that. Some people feel that whenever something that doesn't concern diabetes is mentioned the board is hijacked. I don't mind off topic posts at all. I don't even mind when it seems that someone just feels like talking. The world can be a lonely place and i can't really see the crime in reaching out. It does bother me when people lie though. In my opinion that's far worse then "hijacking" .
denial741974 replied to dustnbones99's response:
dusty bones I told you I was sorry. I keep repeating myself I was off my medication for the mental health. I know I should never lie but my head was messed up that day. I'm really sorry about your mother please forgive me, I'm a new person and taking my medication every day, I just want your trust back, I don't know what else I can do to get support from you. Do you want me to send you a printed card to tell you really sorry what happened that day. I just want you to forgive me.
no denial anymore in my health, it's a learning experience
dustnbones99 replied to denial741974's response:
Den, i think this time you actually did hijack Hooty's post since it started out with her asking what it meant to hijack and you turned it into something directed at me. I actually don't know how to respond to you. You really don't need to ask me to forgive you. My advice is to just go one with your own life, try to cope with your medical and mental problems, and worry less about having cyber friends.
Anon_527 replied to denial741974's response:
This post is an excellent example of hijacking.

&, I feel that beating a dead horse is worse than hijacking and, especially, lying...
