Like Daved said in your other post - we can not diagnose people over the Internet - we are not your Dr. Real Drs can tell you if you are diabetic or not.

I will comment on the A1c of 9.7 is very high. Can you get in to see an Endocrine Dr. he/she specializes in diabetes and can run your tests again and can also set you up to see a dietitian? If your Medications cause that much problems go back to the Dr. who Prescribed it. BTW I looked up your med Amaryl it is to treat people with diabetes. You need to go see your Dr.

We can not diagnose you and we should not try to.

Your insulin level appears to be normal.

Diabetes is diagnosed by using two separate FBG tests done on different days that are greater than 126. Or an A1C that is greater than 6.5%.

I don't what else to tell you.

While your insulin level i in the normal range, it doesn't seem to be doing the job of controlling your glucose levels. That could be because your cells are "insulin-resistant" which is the core problem in type 2 diabetes.

If you are not happy with your doctor, get a second opinion. It doesn't make sense for a doctor to say you don't have diabetes with an a1c of 9.7.

I am not sure where you are in the world, so I don't know if you have the ability to see a different doctor and get the right medical care.

Here is a link to more information about amaryl, which might help you understand the side effects you suffered.

http://www.drugs.com/amaryl.html

There are other drugs, such as metformin, that might be more tolerable for you. But you must consult with a doctor that you trust.

Good luck and let us know how things are going for you.

Like many have said your insulin levels seem to be normal, your A1c is not, it is too high.

We are not sure where you live or if you can go to another Dr, but you do need help. Michelle gave you the site about your drug and side effects. There are other kinds of diabetes meds you could try.

But what is off to me is you say your Dr said no you didn't have diabetes yet he gave you diabetes meds. Please ask for a different Dr and or meds to help you.

More tests need to be done. Sorry there isn't much more I can offer. I am not a Dr or nurse I am type 2 diabetic in remission.
