I am a type 1 diabetic on insulin and have been put on Suboxone. Since I started suboxone, my blood sugars have been ranging from 300 to 700!! Before suboxone, my blood sugars were higher, but not like this. I have also put on 25lbs. Does anyone know why this is happening or has this happened to you? Any responses would be appreciated!

I've never been on this drug, but many meds can cause high blood sugars. Especially the ones that end in "one" like prenisone. I would take it systematically and gradually increase your basal rate (for starters). Once that is better, check your ratios as they may have changed also. Talk to the doc who prescribed it too. If you have become insulin resistant and you have to be on this drug for a while, they may want to put you on something like metformin (some T1s do take it for this) to help too.

Are you on a basal/bolus regime. Do you know your insulin to carb ratio and insulin sensitivity factor? Have you been doing some fasting to check your basal rate? These are all things you will need to know in order to make adjustments to combat the highs.

Best of luck.
