Sometimes when I wake up during the night, I feel numbness in my toes. Is this serious?

Numbness in any part of the body except hair and mails IMO is probably not a good thing. Why would you want to wait until other parts get numb before you check with your doctor?
Are you diabetic?. On meds? What is your A1c and fasting glucose? Tell us more. Loss of nerve function expecially in the feet is common with high sugars.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!
