I take it at night.

My glucose levels spike at night. I usually take my metformin er before bed. It also keeps it from giving me gut rot- which I absolutely cannot tolerate. So whichever is more comfortable for you. If the dr says to do it twice a day then follow instructions but given the circumstances and if it's working for you efficiently then keep doing it. Also watch your intake of glucose during the day if you only take it before bed..thus the effectiveness of it. It all varies.
