What I often see with people who take supplements like multivitamins, is that they end up neglecting their diet.

There is that psychological "safety net" effect where people mistakenly think they've covered themselves with their vitamin pills against deficiencies, so they can now relax and not worry too much about their diet.

Maybe that played a role too in this study outcome.
