Is quothmar still around
DoloresTeresa posted:
Several months ago quothmar asked a serious question about the efficacy of fruits and vegetables. He (or she) made the statement that perhaps the agricultural industry makes lots of money from the sale of fruits and vegetables.

Just the opposite. A video with observations from a Mississippi farmer shows him saying that 90% of the Mississippi crop land is used to grow five crops for which the farmers are subsidized. Corn, soy which is mostly exported, cotton and rice and wheat. He says they are actually penalized for growing fruits and vegetables. And don't forget that fruits and vegetables are not subsidized. (He also said the corn crop is mostly fed to animals and used to make ethanol. So the government subsidizes at least three crops that I know of--- corn, soy, cotton which are not used to feed the american people but to make money for agribusiness. I don't know how much rice stays in this country. Our lawmakers hard at work.
