Trish, I am sooooo happy for you. After doing this for two months, having lost 12 pounds, then gaining three back (my fault, I admit it), I am on my way to doing this. I have been keeping a diary since day one (not really a food diary, although I have been keeping track of that), and realized a few things (not that I haven't known this) - I like to eat, and I like to eat everything. I eat when I'm happy; I eat when I'm miserable. However, I do eat more when I'm miserable. So one day I decided to put it down in words - and I let it out. I think one week I filled each day with every curse imaginable. I would die if someone were to read it, but I digress. I have also found that it doesn't take much to get me excited about losing weight - one ounce, two ounces, and whatever in pounds. When I started this, I knew I wanted to do this and reach my goal of 50 pounds, although I'm thinking 40 would be more realistic at my age. I'm 5'1 1/2" and right now I weigh 155. I guess 115 is realistic, right? But, again, I digress.
When I first started, I absolutely HATED to exercise, and I never thought I would hear myself say this, but I now actually look forward to it. The Leslie Sansone walking series have been my miracle "cure." I started out with her beginner's one-mile walk, and worked my way up to two miles. When that started getting easy, I bought a new DVD, and with that came some band things that you hook around your sneakers and add resistance. I started that last week (started at two miles), but today I decided to try the three miles. OMG! I did it, and I'm so happy. Like I said, it doesn't take much.
Jo, I would highly recommend this stuff, but only if you're really ready to commit. The taste really isn't my favorite, but I keep thinking of my goal. The 15 seconds it takes for me to suck it down is well worth it for me. I have tried everything imaginable - hypnosis, Jenny Craig, shakes, whatever was out there, I tried it. This stuff, for whatever reason, is working. If you read any of my posts, I did check it out with a doctor and a dietician, and they felt it couldn't hurt. Heart disease and diabetes runs in both sides of my family, and I'm hoping to ward it off.
Anyway, gang, now that I've written a magazine article - just kidding - I guess I'll go. Hang in there, don't give up, I'm here for you as well.
Anyway I lost 2 more pounds, I am on a quest and feel great about 4 lbs total so far.I am on a break right now and will write more tonight. How are you doing?
A bit of a bummer day for me. I gained six ounces, and I'm not sure why. But instead of eating, I went straight to my diary and wrote how upset I was. That always helps. I wasn't going to do my exercising tonight, but when I went upstairs, I put in the DVD and just did it. That made me feel a lot better. I wish I had done some measurements before starting this, because some of my clothes are starting to feel looser, so I guess I am hoping right now that maybe is muscle mass. I have upped my exercising to 45 minutes a day, so can't figure out why I'm not losing more. Oh well. On to another day. Not going to let it get to me like I have in the past. I know I will do this. I just know it.
Four pounds for you so far!!!! Yeah!!! You must be soooo thrilled. Take a picture on your face on your cell phone if you can and every ten pounds that you lose, take another picture. You should see a difference then. Gotta run. By the way, I am leaving Thursday to go visit a sick relative. Not sure when I'll be back. I will not have any access to the internet, so don't get worried if I'm not on. I'm not sure how long I'll be away. I sign in tomorrow before heading out. Have a good evening.
So, making sure you copy before you hit post can same some frustration - if you don't, you can often hit the back arrow and return to your post then copy.
Thank you so much for your patience as we work to get everything running super smoothly.
I LOVE that you are working out with your husband Trish - I'll post more tomorrow - almost 10 pm here in California and I am officially brain dead

I find that when I get that try again later message while posting if I hit the refresh button rightaway it will post my post

Trish, I am sooooooo happy that your husband is actively getting involved and so supportive. I think that helps tremendously. My husband isn't doing this with me, but he has been very supportive. We both quit smoking 26 years ago together, but I'm telling ya', this seems to be harder, although, again, this drink has helped immensely. I LOVE it! I think the biggest change in me, though, is that I actually enjoy exercising, and I NEVER thought I would hear myself saying that. I guess it's been the "perfect storm" - a system that works for me (the drink), the support (husband) and an exercise program that I really enjoy (Leslie Sansone). Here's to you and me, Trish - and anyone else who would care to join in.
Haylen, I'm so glad for this board. It helps having people you can talk to about this. I do like the fact that people care, even though we're strangers. It's just been very nice, and I thank you again for you encouraging words.
I'll talk to you all when I get back. Oh, I am packing my exercise equipment and my scale. Isn't that too funny?
The longer you stay on your plan the stronger your "won't power" will get. The more you will learn to like the healthy foods, too.
Keep up the good job!
Trisha
