Can anyone point me in the direction of a diet plan good for burning fat for a leaner more defined body, as opposed to your standard weight loss diet? I am happy with the weight im at of 190lbs at 6ft 2in and 24 years old, just want to burn off that layer of fat over the chest and belly area

Our expert, Pam Peeke, has a blog post that might give you some information about what you can - and can't do - about specific areas of your body.

Muscle and fat are two different tissues. If you exercise on a routine basis, combining both cardio and strength training, you'll be decreasing the amount of fat throughout your body. Some areas may drop fat first. That's because where you store fat is highly influenced by your gender, age, genetics, anything else. Click here to read the whole post:

Hi and thanks so much for your posting. The simple way to accomplish this goal is to decrease the grams of carb in your diet to about 100gr/day. To put things in perspective, the average American man can ingest over 500-600 gr/day easily. When you decrease your carbs, you allow your body to convert to metabolizing fat as fuel, not just carb. The carbs should be veggies, grains and some fruit. Healthy fats include avocado, nuts, fats associated with meat/poultry/fish, dairy, and peanut/almond butter. Lean protein is also essential to maintaining excellent body fat %. Have your body fat % measured. For a main your age, you're looking for somewhere in the range of 15-18%.
Add high intensity interval training to your workouts and you'll use plenty of fat fuel. Don't forget your resistance training 2 x week as well.

Good luck!
