Help! I have lost weight and gotten down to 300 lbs, but for some reason I can not get below that weight. I start to creep up again, this time going higher then the weight before. I get started on the diet again and lose. Great 300 lbs again...creeping up to 330...
Why can't I stay below 300... I feel great, my clothes fit better but for some reason there I go again...
My husband likes me how I am now! I think he is afraid that I will lose my weight and leave him...
I hate myself for being this way, but I've been heavy most of my life but never this heavy...
What can I do or do I need to talk to someone?
Thanks.

You are right now in your "comfort zone" . You are saying that you hate being this heavy but it sounds like you are relying on the fact that your husband loves you no matter what size you are. So, you have the idea in the back of your head that 300 lbs is ok. Sweety, unless you are 9.5 ft tall, 300 lbs on a woman, is not ok. The trick is to set yourself a real goal. Not, 30ish lbs and then let yourself go. You have to be prepared for the long run. The forever journey. It's not a diet. Diets are for short run, low weight loss, bad nutrition educated goals. You aren't going to be doing a "fast weight loss" program. You'll need to learn how to eat proper portions, proper nutrition, proper caloric intake or you are setting yourself up to fail, time and time again.

Sue, while it is possible your hubby is worried you will leave him, it may be truly that he prefers you heavy. I was dating a guy years ago who dropped me after I lost down to a normal weight. (According to most people I was still obese)
When we talked about it, he told me I was boney and just not sexually attractive to him.
I am in my 50s and morbidly obese now. (This is due to other issues) I have had a knee replacement and need the other one done too. I have asthma and diabetes and am on quite a few medications that have possibly worse side effects than the conditions they are treating. If your husband REALLY loves you, then he will support you getting down to a weight that does not compromise your health.
I hope you can reach a compromise that will let you get healthy but does not hurt your marriage. I managed to drop about 80 LBs when I was in my 30s and wish to GOD that had not let myself gain this weight back. (I have done counseling to help with the reasons I put the weight back on. It's helped, but not enough)
It might not be real that it's harder to lose weight as you age, but your skin is more elastic and can tighten back up much better when you are younger. Whether or not you reach an accommodation with your husband, you might think about counseling, even if you have to try more than one to get someone who you click with

It is good progress that you have lost weight and got to the 200's, which is much better than the 300's!

You just have to focus on lowering your calories - try not to exceed a certain limit, say 2000.

Your husband may think he likes you the way you are, but of course he doesn' t yet even know the slimmer version of you that is awaiting, which he may like even more.

And regardless of what he likes, you are ultimately the one who has to live with yourself 24 hours a day, so it is more important that you feel comfortable with yourself.

Keep practising on eating less and eating healthier, and be patient - slowly you can shed those pounds over time and start living up to your true potential.
