I am 28 and I just started The Elimination Diet. I am on day 3 and man I am so tired. I keep hearing that others who started this diet noticed a dramatic increase in their energy. How long does it usually take until you notice a difference in your symptons and energy level?

Hi and welcome!

What foods have you cut out during these three days? Are you working with a doctor or a dietician?

Here is an article that might give you some insight into why you are experiencing low energy:

The Elimination Diet

Important information for you is here:

While following this diet, make sure you are eating other foods that provide the same nutrients as those you've eliminated (for example, try tofu-based foods instead of dairy products). A dietitian can help you plan meals that are healthful and nutritious without including the potentially allergenic foods.

Let us know how you are doing and if you identify what is sapping your energy!

Thanks for the reply and the article!

I am doing an anti-inflammatory diet, so no eggs, dairy, soy, nightshade veggies, wheat/gluten, and some other random things. I am eating A LOT of brown rice and chicken. I also get in lots of nuts and seeds and fruit and veggies so I feel like I am doing really good and I'm not going hungry. But man, my body is not reacting in a pleasant way! All kinds of crazy symptoms, which I understand is pretty normal during the "detox" stage. I just hate not having any energy and napping daily just to get by! Ughhh!!! Oh, and no coffee... =o( I work at Starbucks, so that kills me!
