What ever type, most all rice can be purchased either whole grain (brown) or polished (white).

For example, Jasmine rice is commonly served in Chinese restaurants but most always white; rarely do I see "brown" Jasmine.

With the bran and germ removed during processing, white rice becomes essentially starch (carbs) with little nutrition. Without the fiber from the shell, starch gets quickly converted to glucose and you will see a noticeable rise in blood sugar, postprandial.

Regardless of age or condition, if you're going to eat rice, if given a choice, always ask for the "brown" or "whole grain" version.
