This site works if you are ready to make a change. If you truly believe that you are worth a healthier lifestyle at less weight. If you are willing to put some effort into changing the way you eat and your exercise habits.
Since Jan 3, 2012 , I have been following along with the others in the 50-100 lb weightloss blog here and I wouldn't have been able to do it without them.
Age 47 , starting weight 243, current weight 198.4, goal weight 135.
Its not easy , its not fast but I know that my healthier eating habits are working. My scales say so, my health and fitness say so. And I know that this is going to stick this time after a lifetime of trying "diets" because this ISNT a diet. It's a lifestyle change, a journey. Where I am more informed about nutrition and I am truly making a difference with my attitude toward the foods that I consume.

Losing weight healthfully isn't going to be easy or fast, but it WILL be worth it

I'd say this website is just a tool that you can make use of in your ongoing efforts to lose weight. For example, a hammer can be used to build a house, or you can set it aside and do nothing with it. It's up to you what you make of it.

Personally, I've used this website (and some other tools, too) to help me lose 37 in in 3.5 months. So I'd say I'm satisfied with those results. More importantly, I think it will assist me in staying on track to reach my goal weight... and maintain it.

Your question is a simple one but, imo, very important. If you want help, I would start by asking the following question...

Do you come, here, because you want to "lose weight" or do you come, here, to learn how to control your compulsion to eat food? In other words, are you a "food addict"?

Most people come, here, to "lose weight". Although the desired outcomes may be the same, the methodology to combating a food addiction is totally different.

Here's an example...A person who just got busted on a DUI may tell their friends, "From now on, promise me, you won't ever allow me to drink and drive..." An admitted alcoholic fighting addiction, though, would never say that. They would learn they can't set foot in a bar, period. It's the environment...the smell, the lighting, the sounds, the conversations...that trigger the drinking, over and over, again, until it morphs beyond control into habit.

Cut to the chase, there are many resources on this website that will help you learn about food...why some foods are good and why some are bad...why we over eat...how to control appetite...If you are addicted to food, I suggest you educate because it is through education that we begin to re-shape how we think about problematic behavior(s).

And, any therapist will tell you, if you want to change a behavior, you have to change how you "think" about that behavior.

Note: Like a compulsive gambler that learns to avoid casinos, I stopped eating at restaurants a long time ago...On the other hand, my wife enjoys eating at restaurants and continued to go, every week. What do you do when your family does not acknowledge your problem?

People don't realize how difficult it is to stop a compulsive behavior without family support. It's absolutely essential. Most food addicts don't sit in a dark room in front of the TV, alone, eating themselves to death...They eat right next to their family, in plain view. This is why I think food addiction is far worse than gambling, alcohol or any substance abuse. You can stop going to bars or casinos, but...

How do you stop going home?
