Hail , Caesar! LOL sorry , had to do that.....
first off , suggest that you start a Food and Fitness Planner, either the one here on WebMD or on Fitday.com Both are free and will help you to chart your daily intake and exercise output without having to strain too hard to do "journaling". You get the information about how many calories, and how much exercise to shoot for every day for the amount of weight you want to lose.
Also, you can look at past blogs on the reg diet community , or you can search and join any of the other communities like the 25-50 the 50-100 or the 100 diet communities here on WebMD.
To begin, well, just begin. You've got nothing to lose, but weight , right? Start off with a bit of exercise (or a bit more than usual) walking is a very good "beginners" exercise because you can start off with a couple of blocks and build distance and improve your time as you get healthier. Here is where I suggest the Couch to 5k. Just google that and you will see what I mean.
Do little changes for every meal. If you like bread, swap out to Flax pita pockets or flour tortillas (small ones) or even better, wrap your sandwich fillings with romaine lettuce leaves and skip the bread altogether.
Use fat free condiments, to cut fats and calories.
Use REAL meats like sauteed chicken breast or thinly sliced defatted pork loin to make your sandwiches instead of the processed lunchmeats and hotdogs.
EAT a rainbow everyday. Meaning, eat raw fresh veggies and fruits instead the chips and potatoes, fatty salads and sides , that you would normally eat alongside your main dish. CUT the size of servings to REAL serving size. Read the labels, use measuring cups, spoons and/or a food scale so you KNOW how much your actual serving size is supposed to be.
good luck
