Protein intake for 21 year old adult

How much protein intake is required for a 21 year old boy? If e is vegetarian, what can he eat to make up the required amount of protein?

Hi and thanks so much for your posting. A 21 year old needs no less than .36 gr per pound of body weight if he is fairly sedentary. That requirement increases for men who are more physically active--- up to .60 gr per pound. So, a 200 pound sedentary man needs no less than 72 gr/day, while a more active man requires 120 gr/day. He may even require more depending upon how much muscle he carries.

Vegetarian sources of protein include:
quinoa and whole grains
beans lentils and legumes
Natural soy products like edamame and tofu
nuts, seeds, nut butters
veggie burgers
tempeh
protein powder--- soy, hemp
