    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Body Adjustment to no sugar, no starch diet

My Doctor recently put me on a no sugar, no starch diet. It's been 2 weeks and all I can say is I have no energy and become light headed at times. With very little exercise or movement, I become exhausted. I try to start a project and stop a third of the way through.

If this is detoxing, how long does it last. I need to have energy to do things.

    Hi ltv55,
    welcome.
Sounds like your dr is trying to corral you down the shoot for Paleo living. Nice how he/she doesn't sound like they gave you no basic information to go with the imperitive.
Two different eating styles come to mind in your description,
    The Atkins Diet
    And full blown Paleo Living
to give you some ideas on recipes and how some ppl have done with their Paleo choices, here are a few sites

    http://zenbellyblog.com/

    http://www.runningtothekitchen.com/

    http://www.theclothesmakethegirl.com/

    http://www.skinnytaste.com/

These blogs are women who for one reason or other have decided to go paleo. They talk about how their bodies adjusted from the start. Although everyone's body is different, it may help to read what real people have and are going through to help understand your body's changes.
I can say that I have personally tried several recipes from all of these sites and they were exceptional.
    I hope this helps

    Hi Itv and welcome!

I'm concerned - exhaustion and being light-headed should NOT be ignored! Please make an appointment ASAP to see your doctor.

Iron deficiency anemia , dehydration or medication side effects are just a few examples that can cause the symptoms you are describing.

You might want to ask your doctor for a referral to a certified dietician or nutritionist who can create a healthy eating plan for you moving forward. Please check back in and let us know how you're doing!
