    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

    Hi dixie. Welcome.
If you take the time to fill our either a Food and Fitness Planner here on WebMd or the planner on Fitday.com , you will get a pretty good idea about how many calories and how many of the other nutrients, carbs included, that you should shoot for every day.
It's always better to cut "white" carbs whenever possible and switch to whole grain breads, pastas and rices.
Raw fresh veggies, fruits, foods made from scratch using these and uncooked, unprocessed meats, fat free cheeses and low fat/skim milk products.
You may have heard the saying "eat a rainbow everyday" , well white isn't in the rainbow. It's the complete LACK of color on the spectrum as a matter of fact. The more colorful and bright the foods, the more nutrients they pack.
So as an example of a good exchange, instead of white potatoes(and no, red potatoes dont count as they still have "white" insides), eat orange meated sweet potatoes, peruvian Blues or even those yukon golds are a little better than just plain white.
Anytime you eat a sandwich, try the sandwich filling stuffed inside a romaine lettuce leaf or two. This cuts the carbs to almost nill.
    hope this helps
