Most processed foods need food colorings because all the "color" has been cooked out of it...

Therefore, to find the most balanced & nutritious diet is simply a matter of looking at your plate. Top chefs know this secret only they use the foo-foo term, "presentation". But, its all about eating foods with as many different natural colors as possible.

Some possible tips and links from a fellow vegan:

Eat a whole food, plant based diet! Lots of fruits and vegetables! Lots of nuts, seeds, beans, lentils, peas, and whole grains like quinoa and brown rice!

Yes, it's true. Vegans can choose to eat vegan pastries, donuts, cookies, candies, cakes, muffins! There are even vegan pizzas, lasagnas, spaghetti, and deep fried Indian treats like vegetable samosas, dosas, etc!

All of the above may be lower in fat because it's not animal fat, but they are high in calories because of sugar, oils, pasta, etc.

So...to be a "fit" vegan, it is wise to adopt a "whole food, plant based diet!" Keep pastries and pasta and sweets and processed foods out of the diet as much as possible.
