Tips to Lose Weight Effortlessly

I just wanted to share a few of my tips on how to lose weight effortlessly. Please add your successful weight loss tips!!!

1) Do not "go on a diet." You are going to restrict yourself, feel guilty, punish yourself and binge!

2) Love how you look now. Embrace all your curves, lumps, and bumps and "imperfections." Years ago, I couldn't lose weight because I hated how I looked and almost subconsciously sabotaged myself...I felt bad about my body image, which led me to eat junk food and feed my sugar addiction! Only when I stopped judging myself did I lose the weight.

3) Don't take diet pills. They should be called yo-yo diet pills because they will work in the beginning (most likely due to the placebo effect), but you'll gain the weight right back--and then some.

4) Eliminate sugar and artificial sweeteners from your life. A calorie is not a calorie is not a calorie! Sugar will make your insulin spike and will react differently than, say, a calorie from an apple. Here's a blog that talks about it in more detail and says it better than me: http://www.thedoctorstv.com/melissaw72/posts/16221-Why-a-Calorie-is-not-a-Calorie

Here's a professional article by Gary Taubes about how a calorie is not a calorie: http://garytaubes.com/2012/11/what-would-happen-if-thoughts-and-thought-experiments-on-the-calorie-issue/

5) Cook with less processed cooking oils! Use a tablespoon or two of orange juice or broth instead! Think of all the calories you'll save...plus processed vegetable oils are not healthy for you.

6) Drink water with meals. I have been doing this for many months now. I used to drink fresh squeezed orange juice or carrot juice with dinner (both from Trader Joes)...and they are tasty and good for you...BUT, by switching to water, I'm not drinking my calories away. Again, these are little things to reduce overall calorie consumption. It will take you a week or two to get used to just drinking water, but now it feels normal...and you can really focus on the taste of your food!

7) Instead of focusing on dieting and losing weight...focus on your health, on living a long and healthy and vibrant life! More people are living longer in the US due to medical advances, but unfortunately, they are living longer with debilitating diseases and conditions! Focus on your health, and the side effect WILL be weight loss.

Get up and move! No, this doesn't mean over-exercise! Just get up, stay active throughout the day, park in the farthesest parking space, take the stairs, and find an activity that you love to do...and do it! My previous article: http://forums.webmd.com/3/diet-exchange/forum/3519

9) Finally, there's nothing wrong with finding inspiration with a health guru or two! Here's a few that inspired me to get healthy...that's when I started to lose the weight. I may not agree with everything they say, but there are wise tidbits and ideas that can give you the right kind of motivation. Check out their books from the library for free!
Dr. Fuhrman (what I learned: drastically increase fruit and veggie intake, and the right foods give you energy and awaken you and shouldn't make you lethargic) http://www.drfuhrman.com/
Dr. Amen (what I learned: use food as medicine, and before eating that sweet treat, think: "how will this make me feel?") http://www.amenclinics.com/
Michael Pollan (what I learned: eat real food, treat treats as treats, don't eat anything your grandmother can't pronounce) http://michaelpollan.com/
Kathy Freston (what I learned: a vegan diet can be fun and tasty and give you energy, eat an apple a day, try a new veggie every so often) http://www.kathyfreston.com/
Dr. Hyman (what I learned: foods like dairy or gluten can be inflammatory, so try the elimination diet to find out, plus certain foods affect blood sugar, so consume a low glycemic diet) http://drhyman.com/

Strange, I did not put that emoticon there and I put spaces between all the health gurus I listed at the end! I wish WebMd would let you go back into your own post and EDIT!
