    i read and heard so much on this subject that i concider myself well informed and i know what i did wrong and how i got to be 100 lbs overweight. I also know what to do to go back the healthy way to my ideal weight. My problem is self-control and i need a lot of self discipline to make the right choices to get me there-you know how tempting that bad stuff is?:)

    Uh, yes, I know how tempting it is...the plate from where I had a great donut for breakfast is on my desk, as is the empty coke can from yesterday and my three time a week caramel macchiatto (skim...but...)

    Having been on the Diet Club Exchanges since Jan, 2010, I have seen alot of different "styles" that seem to work or not work for the posters.

    I think you have to get real with yourself....whatever that means at whatever stage of life you are in. Raising young kids bring on much fatigue... raising teenagers creates stress. I am done raising small ones. So now what is my excuse? Most of my retired friends will have/or bake a cake at the drop of a hat.

    Well, I just can't eat one piece of cake. It just gets my tastebuds wakened. The less carbs I get the better.

    I do not rule out all carbs, but now I am getting knowedegeble about healthy carbs. Whole grain, etc. And trying to increase fiber.

    Mia, I think you were talking about barbeques comin up. Watchout for the carbs in those barbeques. Many of those sauces contain sugar. I used to load my sauce with brown sugar and load it in baked beans. WOW!

    I read on the exchanges about the people who want to lose alot of weight REALLY fast. And I think, GOOD LUCK!! And, for just how long are you gonna keep it off???

    I have lost 15 since Jan.. Yeah, not too fast. But, I have developed some really good habits. Gotta think lifestyle change. I have had people get offended at me for not eating their cake. Well they weigh 100 lbs wet! I don't care how many people get mad at me I worked too darn hard to get to this point.

    LOUISE, I know cookie-cutter would not work for me. Me and dh eat out alot. That's something I am not willing to cut out. So I gotta come up with a plan when I go out. NO white bread, NO cream-based soup, NO croutons. Dressing on the side. Eat 1/4-1/2 of course and pack the rest. This gets to be a habit. We like leftovers and I eat them with steamed veggies and a salad so I don't have to cook alot at home.

    Fitting into capris I haven't fit into for over 1 year is a real nice payoff, too!

    Hang in there. Mia, think how good you're gonna look if you don't have that -----------!!

    Barb thats all i do ,keep imageing how good i'll look with every piece of clothing that finally fits, how much better it will be-i know its shallow but it is whats keep me going.......

    OK, Mia, call me "crazy", but I was watching those infomercials on those belts to help you lose weight around your waist. Well I got to surfing to see what they were all about. Come to find out...they all cost about $250.00. I could not believe that.

    Then I went to sporting good stores in my area and saw what they had...a variety of waist slimmer belts, too costly for me. THEN, I came across, at K-Mart, a "slimmer belt" by Bally that cost about $7.50, my price range. Gotta say the thing works for me. I can actually put it on under my fitted t-shirts. It velcros.

    My 31 yr old daughter loves it, she bought 2! So when one gets sweaty, believe me it does, she can switch and put dry one on.

    I guess it works like those expensive wraps the spas do. All I know is I actually have to safety pin, to make the waists smaller on all my jeans.

    I keep wanting to tell you about this. I mean anything that can help keep us going toward our goals is worth a try. MY K-Mart carried 2 sizes. The one I got was 40 ", and they carried one longer but I don't know how long it was.

    No, I don't think it's shallow to want to be the best you can be. You have worked so hard to get rid of all that weight. Now, you are at the "fine-tuning' stage. Just stay on track because you will get the really BIG rewards, soon. Wearing those cute outfits. Believe me you will get mean looks from gals, and 2nd glances from the guys!

    Hi Barb,thanks for not thinking I am shallow.:)I will probably go to K-mart and try tgo find one of those belts-i can spare $7.50. I never had a weight issue-i was always that"slim friend" that others were jealous of and i always ate what i wanted-granted i never ate sweets or pies or chocolate(don't have a sweet tooth). So now its all about the self discipline for me to really be able to control myself and since thank God and knock on the wood-I am in good health so my only driving force to lose weight is to look good and fit in my pre-fat clothes:)
    Luckily i have one of those husbands that love you no matter what-in sickness and health in fatteness and slimness-BUT i noticed that he lately is all over me much much more with every lb i drop.....;))))

    I was that super skinny girl in my 20 s and 30s I had a30 pound gain around 38 and I was skinny again for my 40s
    even haveing 2 babies in my mid 20s didn;t make me fat
    it was hitting menopause when I was 50 and my Mom passed away at that time i went into a depression that took away my sense of self..I had an emptyness inside of my being that I tried to fill with food and sweets,, gained 100 pounds in a 4 year period...I made a few attemts to remove the fat and failed and each time I failed I gained more weight after ... this time I started not to remove weight but to improve the Chemistry in my body giveing the body the right nutrients to help it heal itself.. and the weight removed was a delightfull bonus...
    the exercise started earlier though I was walking while I was fat for 2 years minimal weight removed before I changed the food intake. then it was sort of easy// and yes I am enjoying the better looking body too..

    I agree Louise. This is a terrific resource. In today's world, it's all about individualizing and customizing your dietary intake, People should take a moment and study the options. When it comes to great nutrition, it's all about trial and error and playing around with options until you get what you need. Then change it up now and again. Dr. Peeke
