This article is spooky. Only 40% agree that consuming more calories than we burn leads to weight gain? So most don't see a correlation? Or is there a collective denial going on to discount the need for healthy habits? It's understandable that tough economic times affect food choices, but is it really a secret that beans and brown rice is cheap? Or is there a cultural push for the fast food value meal because it's more tasty?

I agree! I think "tasty" is more important than long term health to many.

My friend teaches in a Los Angeles high school - she says kids are big and out of shape and don't seem to be concerned AT ALL. She teaches health and is very discouraged by the constant consumption of junk food and lack of fresh choices made by already heavy kids.
