Nutrition Tracker
kacey1234 posted:
I have tried many diet fads at no success. When I started tracking my nutrition it was much easier to lose weight. I think this is because I started to prefer more nutritious and lower calorie foods. Think going beyond calorie counting is key to long term health and weight loss:)
In case it helps, I use OnTarget Nutrition to track food, weight, calories, etc.
Good luck to all!

Kacey1234, I've given a try and it is great. I like that it gives all the major nutrients (including salt), allows you to customize the Target Daily Intake, and to create a nutrient chart for foods not in the database. Thanks so much.

Hi and thanks for your posting. You're absolutely correct. There is no doubt that keeping track of your daily nutrition keeps you mindful of every mouthful. The way to change any habit is to transform it from a subconscious to a conscious event. So many of our eating habits are knee jerks that we have practiced for years on end. Patience is required to recircuit your neuronal networks in the brain to be able to supervene over old habits. Too many people throw in the towel too early. Patience! And allow for slippage here and there. That's your brain reverting back as you practice new habits. The food tracker keeps you aware and awake to your daily behaviors so you can continue practicing--- eyes wide open. Good for you and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Thanks kacey. I tried one of the food-based diet programs for 6 months but I was just hungry all the time. I tried the site you mentioned and was amazed to see how much I was really eating (and not burning off with exercise - yikes). Thanks again and good luck to you!
