Vegetarian low carb ... need tips, please
sunflowers1957 posted:
My goal is to lose15 pounds. I am a vegetarian (I eat dairy and fish). I am having trouble lowering my carb intake, since I eat a lot of dairy, legumes, almond butter, etc., as sources of calcium and protein. Any tips on how to adapt my eating?

Do you eat eggs? If so, egg-whites are a good and low-cal source of protein, no carbs.

You could maybe consider taking a whey protein drink or two a day, which could give you a huge protein boost with minimal carbohydrates, calories not too bad either. Mine has 117 cal per scoop of powder, which gives me 22g protein, and only just below 2g carbs. It contains calcium too.

Tofu has about 10g of protein and only 1g of carbs in half a cup, so that's a good one too. Plus it has a lot of calcium. And edamame beans have 4g protein, 3 g carbs.

Some leafy green veg are good sources of calcium also (minimal carbs).

Yes, I do eat eggs and I love tofu. Good tip about the protein drink. I'll have to check that out!
Seize the day.

it is not that ahrd and for your info 95% of diabetics are diabetics because of midline obesity. So you are in the right path or preventive medicine. Eat more often, but smaller portions and stay away of refined foods and fruit juices. Become green teas' best friend. It willl help you tremendously, it is also a natural fat burner and much more... Eat dark greens. Limit your carbs to breakfast and lunch and switch the next day to breakfast and dinner. Do not allow the body to built a pattern, when it builts a pattern it will start storing more carbs in your addipose tissue.
