I hope I am doing this right. I haven't posted here before although I have read a few threads and the like.

I am a 22 year old research specialist, I work in a lab 8+ hours a day, most of which I sit on my bum. I decided last May that I needed to lose weight because an aunt very close to me passed away at a young age from a massive heart attack and I didn't want that to be me. Since then I tried to eat better, get a better lifestyle going and get into the mindset for losing weight, though I really didn't put any thing into motion until Jan of this year. Shortly before my aunt passed I had gotten into a car accident that really messed up my spine and it hurt to do anything but stand up, and even that hurt. I couldnt sleep, couldnt eat, and was over all miserable for a long time. I gained 15 lbs in a short time just from being in bed all day. Then I realized that if I dropped the weight, even though I wouldnt be the same, I could at least start to feel better everywhere else.

From Jan to April I did weight watchers. I got a new job last Nov that allowed me to buy better foods and keep a watch of eating anything processed and things like that. However, April 4th I bucked up for a gym membership to planet fitness to get me out of the house and moving. Here I am 4 months and some odd days later and I am, every day, loving myself more and more. I decided to lose weight because I wanted to be healthy, but along the way I learned taht I never did love myself and now I am getting better and better at doing just that. I just wanted to share a little bit about myself and see how you guys were doing

    Aged 22 years.
Starting weight Jan 2011: 254.6 lbs
Weight as of April 2011: 244 lbs (10 lbs down from Weight Watchers)
    Current weight: 219.2 lbs
    Goal weight: 150 lbs
    Height: 5 ft 2 in.

I attribute my weight lost success thus far to the gym. It gets me moving, gives me more energy, and the people there are amazing. I still keep it up, 5-7 days a week, and love every minute of it. Since I've started there I have been lurking around webmd and even a few websites around the block and have been eating right and healthier, and I truly believe I can keep up with this

    Hello cltabor and welcome!

Thanks for joining us. Kudos to you for making changes in your job and lifestyle and "loving yourself more and more." That's such a wonderful gift you're giving yourself.

I've lost 35lbs in the last year and a half (and have 100lbs to go...), so I sure agree with you on how much more I like myself. I got serious about exercise almost a year and a half ago, and started daily walking a year ago. So I haven't missed a day and I love doing it, too.

Pounds off since December 2009= 30lbs. At this rate, it will be years until I reach goal, so I hope you don't mind having me around for a spell.
