What is a good weight loss diet to see faster results?

I am using the calorie counter here and watching calories, and walking about every day. But I am wondering if there is something out there, some kind of diet that will help me shed these calories faster. Or are there foods that actually burn the fat or help with that? I need to lose the weight so I can be healthy and breath again.
I was on the all whites diet but had a hard time sticking to it, I craved sugar and salt all the time, and had a hard time cutting bread and things like that out of my diet.
