Hi folks, I see a lot of stories out there, same as mine. I'm over 55 (just) and added about 40 pounds overall to my high school weight. Over the course of my life my weight: Natural weight (we walked to school and mom feed us jello for desert) > added 40 lbs pregnancy first child (do NOT eat for 2, that is a lie, eat a healthy diet for one), took some weight off simple dieting (I was in my 20s) > got back up to the 40lbs age 35. Tried Jenny Craig and successfully peeled off 30 lbs of it. Kept it off for five years. (Loved it, don't be afraid to try). However, we moved to another state, and the later JC counselors had zero training. So now post menopause, family, business major headaches, moved senior parent here. Did check with my insurance carrier, Blue Cross Blue Shield of FL. They have a discount referral program Blue 365. Sends you to another group, Healthways. Work through it, though, because I have a Gold's Gym membership without a contract that saves 25% each month. My senior mother gets a gym membership under her government insurance. So we make Saturday mother-daughter day to go to the gym for an hour, eat a healthy meal, then do our household shopping. The rest of the week I walk to the end of the 1.25 mile road near my house and back, plugged into my iphone app Pandora radio. It's good for both of us!

Now I'm looking for a solution to curb the late-night gremlins that come out....

hi MKissFL, Thanks for mentioning the insurance. We have BCBS also. I'm new here and just posted today. I'm 55 and I need to lose 30 lbs. My knees and back hurt. I walk 2-3 times per week for 1 -2 miles, but it's not enough. I seem to eat more at night also. What type of workouts do you do? That's great that you and your Mom do the Saturday work outs.
