Weight disgusting!!

My husband and I went over to where my daughter's wedding is going to be and discuss a few more things. Then we found out that they were going to have there last band tonight. I don't like social situations so I kind of go and sit and look. My husband loves to dance. He tried all night long to get me to dance, but I didn't want to compete with the 21 year olds, so skinny and small. I remember when I got married and was 5'7 and weight 155. I was happy with that weight. Now I'm 5'7 and 237lbs. I'm so embarrased of my weight. That's why I wouldn't dance tonight. Didn't want anybody looking at me and saying look at that fat old lady. I am trying to lose weight. I don't overeat, I don't eat enough. My meds made me gain the weight. It makes it harder to get off. What I want to know is how I can love myself until I can get back to my normal weight. I'm always telling my husband go with out me I'll stay home. Some time he does and sometime he doesn't.

Lane Bryant has size 14 and up! They have 20 and 22! I had luck there last September with business casual clothes- black slacks and red jacket.

JCPenney has size 20 in inexpensive suit sets. I bought my suit with slacks there in navy last September also. Very comfortable and right for me and job interviews. Saw suits with skirts too and in other colors. Very nice prices. Didn't look at dresses.

I don't know where you live, Jayne, but most of the department stores now have sizes 20-22. I found a link to a blog about locations to buy plus sized formal wear and between this and all the other suggestions others have made here, you will find a gorgeous dress and look beautiful. Pamper yourself if you can--get a mani/pedi, and your hair and makeup done too. We are all pulling for you here. This is a joyous occasion!

For photos, I learned it helps to give the photographer about a three quarter view of yourself. It gives a more slimming effect, especially if you can hide at least a little behind the person next to you. A good photographer will automatically do this for you..."Turn just a little more this way, a little more- that's it, hold it right there!" etc. You don't even notice what they are doing.

You'll look beautiful. Pick a flattering color for you, not anything too patterned or busy, usually all one color is best.

Hi Judy, I love your shorter and straight hair in this photo. Looks refreshing. Your hair is very shiny and pretty color too. You have a lovely family!

thanks I posted it so Jayne could see the photographer had me standing and pointed in a certain direction and disguised my double chin ,,hid my belly behind everyone .. My hair wasnlt straight in the photo though it was curled with a curling iron and molded with gel..and tons of hair spray .I had short hair for a few years because I was following the rules for us women over 40 at the time,,
it was a pain getting it cut every 6 weeks and expensive
so I grew it long when I was old enough to say I lived with it short and long I like it long ...
much easier too curl it 2 maybe 3 times a week no sitting in the hair salon all day

I don't like short hair on women. I am not saying you should grow it to your butt but you shouldn't cut it off either. Just my opinion anyways.

Judy! Well now I really love your long curled hair! You are amazing and an inspiration. Saving money and feeling more comfortable and doing what is right for you is so inspirational! That was then anyway, this is now. You rock, as my 13 year old daughter would say!

Judy, that is a wonderful picture and you do have a beautiful family! I would never guess that you weighed over 200 pounds in that picture. You really look lovely. Also, great advice here about how to take a picture. For years I would just poke my head over people's shoulders in pictures so no one would see my body, or would make sure I was at least half cut off by the person standing next to me. Kind of hard to do that in a wedding or other professional type picture though, so thanks for those tips. I'm sure I'll be using them sometime soon.

Amber, I'm not fond of short hair either. My hairdresser gave me the "mom" look one year after I'd had hair past my shoulders for years, and I HATED it. Now it is shoulder length again and I'm happy enough with it but still miss my longer hair sometimes which never fully grew back.

thank you Marci and laura
that was a size 20 dress I was wearing I did get fatter after that pic was taken too ...went up another 50-75 pounds before I woke from my sugar induced daze ...
there is a sofa I am standing behind that does half the job of hideing my belly... the rest is hid by my daughter inlaw the bride and my daughters hair ..
the photographer positioned us to make a better pic
and you can see I am turned slightly to make me look less wide.
Hugs Judy:)

Hello, I'm doing okay. I'm exhausted planning this wedding. One week to go. I feel like all I'm doing is dishing out money left and right. I have 2 outfits for the wedding, I just haven't had time to try them on for my husband to decide which one he likes best. I've been dealing with a lot of pain, wondering if surgery is in the picture or not. I'm just really exhausted. I have to go to bed I'm really tired. chat with you later. Jayne
